The Role Reporting initially to the group CTO, you will lead one of the newly formed AI Pods. Your core responsibilities will include: Leading the technical vision, design, and development of enterprise-grade applications leveraging Generative AI tools. Acting as a key hands-on contributor, actively coding, building, and solving complex technical problems alongside your team ("getting your hands dirty"). Managing and mentoring a small offshore development team (contractors), including task allocation, code reviews, and performance guidance. Driving projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and requirements gathering to deployment and iteration. Engaging confidently with senior stakeholders (including C-level executives and Heads of R&D) within portfolio companies to understand needs, present solutions, and drive adoption. Travelling as needed (including internationally to Europe and Australia) to collaborate with portfolio company teams on-site. Developing strong opinions on AI tooling and methodologies, advocating for best practices within your pod. Potentially assisting in screening and vetting future team members. Essential Requirements Proven, demonstrable experience building enterprise-level applications using Generative AI tools and technologies. Be prepared to showcase what you've built. Strong, well-articulated opinions on the strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate use cases for various GenAI tools (e.g., Cursor / Bolt / Gamma / Q Developer Pro / V0 / Windsor / Lovable, Knowledge of various LLMs like Claude models, etc. Experience leading or managing software engineering teams, even if small or project-based. Must understand team dynamics and project delivery. A strong, deep technical background, likely in Software Engineering Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; confident presenting to and collaborating with senior leadership without being intimidated. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally to UK, EU, Asia and Australia. Based in Canada, with a strong preference for the East Coast time zone (Central acceptable). Must be comfortable being highly hands-on, acting as a senior individual contributor in addition to leading.
