Summary: ClearanceJobs is looking to hire a Design Engineer III on a contractual basis (27 months in duration). This position must be performed onsite in Mesa, AZ and requires U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance. Designs hardware specializing in integration with military platforms using. Digital and analog circuit designs that interface, collect and process data providing feedback with existing hardware. Research and designs circuits requirements. Position performs engineering design evaluations as a project design engineer. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required. Responsibilities/Skills: Designs, develops, and tests electrical systems, products, printed circuit boards and/or firmware. Architect, design, develop, debug, deploy, and maintain electrical and electronic hardware for new and existing ICE products. Determines data input/output requirements and equipment requirements. Designs, develops, tests, modifies, installs, and updates firmware. Generates, tests, and implements system Firmware in stages by coding different modules to meet designated project requirements and project milestones. Knowledge of software development models and project management techniques. Resolves discrepancies by correcting, modifying, testing, and installing software to eliminate bugs. Evaluate system and software designs, equipment, and techniques and make recommendations for design improvements. Knowledge of digital communication hardware and protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, Wi-Fi, RFID, TCP/IP). Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and activities. Encryption hardware experience a plus. Solid PCB design experience, Flex PCB design experience a plus. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 6 years’ experience in electrical/computer engineering - OR - Associates degree and 8 years electronic design experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree. Strong background in hardware (e.g. FPGA) and software (e.g. C) development required. Experience developing high performance embedded process for signal processing applications required. Altium Designer and PCB Design software knowledge required. Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.
