z/OS System Engineer

Excellent opportunity for z/OS System Programmer to be part of our Cloud Infrastructure & Security services practice. Cognizant Infrastructure Services – Provides IT infrastructure & Cloud services for clients across industry verticals, including both Consulting/Professional and Managed Services, across Enterprise Computing, Cloud services, Security Services, DevOps, Data Centres, End User Computing, Service Desk, Network Services and Environment Management Services. Role requires travel to client site in Sheffield 2-3 days a week. Key Responsibilities : Upgrading, maintaining and supporting the z/OS operating system Upgrading, maintaining and supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM and Computer Associates (CA) Production support Mainframe systems programming. Must have knowledge of a combination z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL. IBM and CA Product knowledge and be able to work independently. Required to provide off hours support for the implementation of software changes and support for other projects requiring software expertise as well as be part of an on-call rota Key Skills and Experience : Experience in upgrading, maintaining and supporting the z/OS operating system Experience in upgrading, maintaining and supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM and Computer Associates (CA) Experience in Production support Must have extensive experience of mainframe systems programming. Must have knowledge of a combination z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL. Must have knowledge of IBM and CA Products and be able to work independently.
