Senior Software Engineer – Control Plane Lead San Francisco, CA (remote) Confero is partnering with a well-funded, early-stage startup building a next-gen platform at the intersection of AI, data, and cloud infrastructure. Founded by experienced technical leaders, the team is hiring a Senior Engineer to own the architecture and implementation of their control plane - the core layer that governs APIs, service orchestration, and policy enforcement. This is a foundational role with high impact, broad scope, and zero legacy overhead. What You’ll Do Architect/implement the control plane: API servers, service coordination, and access control Design scalable, secure multi-tenant backend infrastructure Build policy enforcement frameworks (authZ, data access, tenant isolation) Write high-quality backend code (Go and/or Java) Help define engineering standards, team practices, and technical direction What We’re Looking For 7 years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience Strong system design background in distributed, cloud-native environments Proficiency in Go and/or Java Experience with data platforms (Snowflake preferred) and cloud infra (AWS, GCP, etc.) Experience building secure, policy-driven, or multi-tenant systems Startup or 0→1 product experience strongly preferred Bonus Points Familiarity with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and big data systems (Spark, Hadoop) Background in platform security or authorization frameworks Why This Role Own core infrastructure before scale No legacy baggage: Modern stack, clean design Clear path to Staff/Principal-level scope Competitive salary, equity, and benefits
