Senior Back End Developer

Job Title: Payment Backend Developer Work Type: Full Time - In Office Salary Range: $140K - $170K annually equity Location: Toronto, ON About the Company: We are currently working with a leading Canadian FinTech startup in their search for a Senior Backend Developer to join their team. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering - you’ll design and develop a scalable, reliable, and secure backend that handles complex financial transactions with precision. Responsibilities: Build and maintain a reliable financial ledger (double-entry) Design scalable, event-driven systems for processing payments Create secure APIs to connect with banks and partners Manage complex workflows for sending, reversing, and reconciling payments Ensure systems are accurate, compliant, and fully auditable Qualifications: 5 years backend experience, including 3 in fintech or payments Strong knowledge of ledgers, reconciliation, and financial data Experience with distributed systems and tools like Kafka Familiarity with workflow tools like Temporal.io (or similar) Focus on accuracy, security, and building systems that scale If this sounds like you then please apply!
