Hands-On Director of Cybersecurity / SOC 2 / Oversee IT

We’re helping a company that develops custom internal software solutions for clients in the HR and payroll sector. They are expanding their team with a focus on AI integration and are seeking a Director of Cybersecurity to oversee new initiatives.

The Director of Cybersecurity will be responsible for overseeing the organization's security strategy, ensuring the protection of systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. You’ll be hands on with SOC 2 audits as the sole Security SME, while overseeing the IT Department. You'll collaborate with business leaders to align security initiatives with company goals while staying ahead of evolving cyber threats. You’ll also oversee security operations, vendor management, and employee cybersecurity training programs.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity
• 5+ years of experience in leadership positions
• Must come from SaaS background/companies
• Expertise in SOC 2 audits as you will be responsible for this
• Small organization experience
• CISSP equivalent

Desired Skills & Experience

• CISSP, CISM, or equivalent preferred
• Previous experience leading Cyber initiatives in smaller companies
• Experience developing and executing security roadmaps
