Senior Cloud Engineer

Position Description:

***Applicants are permitted to work remotely from an at-home work site anywhere in the United States.***

Designs and develops software applications using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and Java. Deploys Application Program Interfaces (APIs) in the cloud through automation, ensuring integrated security and testing. Coordinates and operates the Datadog platform to provide reliable and secure access to logs, metrics, and traces across a hybrid cloud environment. Instruments, generates, collects, and exports telemetry data to analyze software performance and behavior using tools like Prometheus, Open Telemetry, Grafana, M3, and other open source observability tools. Develops applications on Cloud with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interprets large data sets using query languages and visualization tools.

• Implements process improvements within an Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environment.

• Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan computer software specifications on major projects.

• Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.

• Proposes modifications and improvements based on user needs.

• Triages the health of deployed applications using modern observability tools.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field, with three (3) years of experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer or a related role developing and designing optimized software systems and applications using Python, JavaScript, and Go.

Or, alternatively, a Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in the same fields with one (1) year of relevant experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing Cloud platforms in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure; developing Concourse pipeline automation using Python and CloudFormation templates, and integrating ARM templates, using AWS and Azure services (S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateways, EC2, ECS, Azure Functions/Lambda, AI services).

• Experience automating end-to-end workflows, defining and building API integrations, using Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, and Ansible; and maintaining AWS infrastructure to support enterprise platforms.

• Experience implementing observability tools such as Splunk or Datadog to monitor system performance.

• Developing CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Git, Jenkins, Artifactory, uDeploy, and creating automation dashboards.
