Join a mission-driven team supporting our client in a hybrid environment for a customer in Washington, DC which manages high-volume disbursements including payroll, grants, and vendor payments.

This position involves maintaining and enhancing critical mainframe processes, supporting secure data exchanges with external entities, and ensuring compliance with Federal financial standards.

  • Gain a deep understanding of the Adabas Payment System and its associated batch and online processing workflows to provide effective technical support and system enhancements.

  • Utilize skills in COBOL, Natural, JCL, Adabas utilities, FileAid, ISPF, FileZilla, MochaTN3270, WinZip, and IBM mainframe tools to support, maintain, and improve data processing operations.

  • Answer technical queries from state agencies and DOI bureaus regarding APS integration and assist in their transition from CONNECT:Direct to MOVEit or other secure file transfer platforms.

  • Update and maintain the APS Operations database with accurate system and stakeholder information.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to performance optimization and reliability improvements across the system.

  • Operate effectively under weekly and monthly payment deadlines, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement processing.

  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment, contributing positively to shared goals, code reviews, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in IT systems with a strong focus on legacy mainframe environments and modern file transfer platforms.

  • Proficiency in COBOL, Natural for Adabas, JCL, Adabas utilities (e.g., ADAORD, ADADBS), FileAid, ISPF, FileZilla, MochaTN3270, WinZip, and standard IBM utilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Analysis, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail and task follow-through.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based, collaborative environment.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting payment or financial systems in a federal government context.

  • Familiarity with MOVEit scripting, Control-M or other job scheduling tools.

  • Exposure to CICS/Natural online applications and z/OS system monitoring tools.

  • Understanding of Federal financial standards and payment interfaces such as IPAC or ASAP.
