Software Dev Engineer II, Amazon Retail Compatibility Experience

Job ID: 2941827 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Are you passionate about developing scalable services and dynamic front end experiences that helps customers manage costs and keep their products working like new? Amazon’s Retail Compatibility Experience team is the go-to authority for retail product compatibility insights, empowering customers to discover, comparison shop, and confirm compatibility with accessories and replacement parts. We sit at the intersection of all of Amazon's World Wide Stores teams, interacting directly with customers and collaborating with teams across Amazon to ensure customers shop with confidence.

As a key member of our team, you'll tackle architectural challenges by making billions of compatibility records available to customers to dive deeper into what products work with what they own or will be purchasing, enabling them to identify extensibility of products, longevity, and repairability. You'll develop innovative solutions, make strategic decisions, and solve complex problems. This dynamic role requires a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to our success.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Collaborate in the design, implementation, deployment, and operation of successful internet-scale systems and services in support of our commerce operations and the businesses they support.
  2. Help define our secure, scalable, distributed and event-driven systems.
  3. Work with extraordinary teams delivering demanding projects.
  4. Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
  5. Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
  6. Share knowledge of the effective performance, scalability, architecture, and engineering patterns and methods.

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer at Amazon's Retail Compatibility Experience team, you will drive every aspect of the software development lifecycle: from requirements, development, testing, deployment to operations. You are always collecting and reviewing data to make our engineering and operations efficient. You will collaborate with multiple teams, upstream and downstream, to exceed customer expectations. You raise the bar with every product or feature delivered.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
