Job Title: Senior Business Analyst Type: Contract Location: London About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a dynamic Power Capability team within a leading energy and trading organization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing power sales capabilities across Europe by bridging the gap between business requirements and IT delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to major technology and business transformation initiatives within the power trading sector. Key Objectives As a Senior Business Analyst, you will: Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT delivery teams to define, document, and deliver critical business and technology requirements. Focus on expanding and improving power sales and trading functionalities, especially across European energy markets. Utilize your strong knowledge of ETRM systems and the power trade lifecycle to support project delivery from inception through post-implementation. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary liaison between business users and IT teams in a trading environment. Analyse, refine, and document detailed business requirements, user stories, and workflows. Translate business requirements into technical specifications for delivery teams. Drive the analysis and optimisation of systems supporting European power trading and sales. Provide subject matter expertise across the full power deal lifecycle, including: Trade capture Risk management Scheduling and nominations Invoicing and settlements Collaborate with Sales IT and Trading IT architects to ensure cohesive solution designs. Participate in all testing phases (unit, QA, UAT) and support business users during test cycles. Deliver training materials and assist in the onboarding of new users post-implementation. Conduct post-delivery reviews to capture lessons learned and identify improvement areas. Required Skills & Experience European Power Markets: Strong understanding of both physical and financial elements of European power trading, including capacity markets. Deal Lifecycle Expertise: Deep knowledge of the complete power trade lifecycle. ETRM Knowledge: Proven experience with ETRM platforms and middle-to-back-office systems. Commodities Market Exposure: Demonstrated experience in business analysis within commodity and energy trading markets. Agile Methodology: Practical experience in Agile environments, including backlog management and sprint planning. Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including senior leadership. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in complex environments. Documentation: Proficiency in producing high-quality business and functional documentation. Education & Qualifications A degree (or equivalent experience) in a numerate, business, or computing-related discipline
