Data Engineer (Azure)

MCS Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Cloud Azure Data Engineer to join a high-performing data engineering team delivering enterprise-grade solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a modern Lakehouse architecture that powers analytics, AI, and business-critical applications across the organisation. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Azure Synapse and other cloud-native tools, curating high-quality datasets, and enabling backend data services that support a single source of truth for the enterprise. This is a hands-on role for an engineer with a passion for automation, data governance, and cloud-first innovation. What you'll do: Design and implement scalable pipelines in Azure Synapse, using the medallion architecture Develop and optimise ETL/ELT workflows using Python, SQL, and PySpark Automate data ingestion from APIs, databases, and streaming sources Collaborate with application teams to support backend data services and APIs What you'll bring: Experience with Microsoft Azure in a data engineering or administration role Hands-on expertise with Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, Databricks Proficiency in SQL, Python, and PySpark Solid understanding of Lakehouse architecture and modern data practices Experience in CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Azure DevOps or Terraform AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals certification is beneficial (DP-203 or equivalent preferred) This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your Azure engineering career in a progressive, cloud-focused environment that values innovation and collaboration.
