Technical Writer (Engineering)


Overview


Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail are essential. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  1. Gathering information from subject-matter experts and developing, organizing, and writing procedures, manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation clearly and concisely.

  2. Developing comprehensive templates and documentation that meet organizational standards.

  3. Supporting document validation, verification, and release efforts.


Required Skills



  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand drawings, blueprints, operation sheets, wiring diagrams, and written instructions.

  • Ability to translate complex information into simple, user-friendly content.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to navigate a manufacturing facility.

  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.

  • Excellent typing, written, grammatical, and verbal communication skills.


Note: Due to U.S. export control laws under ITAR, this position is only open to U.S. persons, including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), and certain protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).


Desired Skills



  • Familiarity with lab equipment.

  • Experience with multiple technical disciplines.

  • Experience in engineering development and manufacturing environments.


Required Experience



  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and at least 5 years of technical writing experience.

  • Experience writing government proposals.

  • Strong editing and proofreading skills for developing tailored proposals and marketing communications.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and demonstrate strong organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients.

  • Complete proficiency with MS Office, and working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experience with MS SharePoint or similar collaboration and version control systems.


In compliance with pay transparency laws, the salary range in New Jersey is $70,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience and skills. We offer comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) with match, tuition assistance, paid time off, holidays, and a 9/80 work schedule.
