Role: Mainframe Developer Contract Length: 6 months – extensions available, project runs until 2027 Work Location: Hybrid Remote / Lancashire Start Date: ASAP Industry: Financial Services / Insurance IR35 Status: Outside IR35 Seeking a skilled Systems Analyst/Developer to join a major two-year migration and separation programme. The project focuses on migrating a portfolio from legacy mainframe systems to a new outsourced platform model. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with deep IBM mainframe expertise who can hit the ground running. Responsibilities: * Analyse and interrogate legacy mainframe applications to support source-to-target data mapping * Play a critical role in build phase, developing code and executing data extracts based on client specifications * Develop code in IBM z-series mainframe technologies to extract data * Work from agreed specs to support the data migration and build activity * Support testing and validation phases in a waterfall-esque delivery model * Collaborate with Solution Architects and Programme Leads to influence and adapt build scope as needed * Active participation in daily stand-up calls with client Skills & Experience Required: * Proven, recent development experience using these IBM mainframe technologies: * PL1 & SYNCSORT * DB2 & IMS DB * MVS JCL, TSO * JobTrac, ENDEVOR, File Manager * Experienced interrogating mainframe applications to support data mapping & extraction * Strong background in codebase development and legacy system interrogation * History of successful, large-scale migration programmes * Financial Services industry experience Desirable Experience: * Knowledge of life/protection products
