IT Technician Balham, SW London £30k Responsibilities: · Provide first-line technical support to staff and students for hardware, software, and network-related issues. · Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers, interactive whiteboards, and projectors. · Support the use of educational software and online platforms, ensuring smooth functionality for teaching and learning activities. · Manage user accounts and access permissions across systems like Active Directory, email, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace). · Assist in monitoring and maintaining the school’s IT infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, servers, and backup systems. · Respond to support tickets and log issues, escalating complex problems to the team manager or external support providers as needed. · Ensure all devices and systems are updated and secure, applying patches and antivirus definitions regularly. · Help set up and support IT for school events, such as assemblies, exams, and presentations. · Support the rollout of new technology projects, such as hardware upgrades or software deployments. · Follow safeguarding and data protection policies, ensuring the safe handling of sensitive information and student data. Experience/Skills: · Previous experience in an IT support role, ideally within an educational environment or a similar user-focused setting. · Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and common classroom technologies. · Basic understanding of networking principles, including Wi-Fi, switches, IP addressing, and internet troubleshooting. · Familiarity with device management tools, such as Active Directory, Group Policy, and remote desktop applications. · Hands-on experience with hardware maintenance, including repairing or replacing components in PCs, laptops, and printers. · Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users (staff and students). · Organised and methodical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple support requests. · Awareness of safeguarding and data protection practices relevant to working in a school environment. · Ability to work independently and collaboratively, especially alongside the IT team manager and other school staff. · A recognised IT qualification, such as CompTIA A, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential) Particulars: · Standard company pension scheme. · 28 days of annual leave, inclusive of all UK bank holidays. · Full-time, permanent position based on-site at the school. · Working hours: Monday to Friday, with shifts of either 07:00–15:00 or 08:00–16:00, whichever suits you. · Access to ongoing training and development. · Opportunity to work in a supportive team environment, contributing directly to the learning experience of students. · Modern IT infrastructure and tools to support professional development and day-to-day operations. · Free on-site parking
