Working for a consumer scale-up with tens of millions of customers and processing over $1bn in transactions annually, the Lead Software Engineer will lead the technical direction of the backend and manage a team of talented Mid and Senior Backend Engineers. The company is continuing to scale internationally, building on the great success they’ve had in the U.K. They are based in London and operate a hybrid working model. Whilst fully remote is difficult, they can be flexible, as long as you can come in once a month The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for: Owning the design and development of robust, scalable backend services Spearheading the technical direction of the backend Managing a team of engineers Contributing to overarching technology strategy Transitioning some legacy code to more modern microservices The Lead Software Engineer will have: Experience in line management and technical leadership of backend Hands on coding experience with PHP and Go / Golang (other languages are a bonus) Strong technical understanding of, and having built, API’s Good communication skills and stakeholder management Could come from a startup / scale-up or corporate background Candidates could be from roles like Engineering Manager, Engineering Lead, Technical Lead or Head of Engineering, etc. This is a great opportunity for a talented Lead Software Engineer to join a rapidly growing company.
