Database Administrator Annual Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 Location: Redcar, Teesside Day-to-day Responsibilities: Install and maintain database and GIS infrastructure according to organizational standards. Manage technical links between GIS and various departmental systems, including software patches and upgrades. Uphold data standards compliant with data protection regulations and create detailed database documentation. Develop automated tools for managing database capacity and performance. Monitor database growth, manage access permissions, and ensure security measures are in place. Implement effective storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures. Administer databases with a focus on GIS, and manage related software licenses and hardware. Provide advanced support to staff, assist in disaster recovery, and ensure business continuity. Maintain regular communication with technical and operational teams to secure database integrity. Required Skills & Qualifications: Demonstrable experience in database and GIS administration within a corporate or public sector setting. Strong knowledge of database management systems and GIS software. Proficient in maintaining data standards and understanding data protection laws. Skilled in developing GIS services using HTML and Java. Excellent project management abilities and teamwork skills. Capable of managing external suppliers and overseeing web server administration.
