Software Engineer – Full Stack | Energy Technology | The Woodlands, TX (Hybrid/Onsite) A fast-growing company in the retail energy sector is seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of internal platforms, external customer interfaces, and data integration solutions. This is a high-impact, full-time role ideal for a hands-on developer who enjoys working across the full software development lifecycle in a fast-paced, small-team environment. You’ll build applications that power operations, streamline billing and reporting, and improve the user experience for residential and commercial energy customers in deregulated markets. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure web and data applications that support internal teams and external users. Integrate third-party systems including billing platforms, CRMs, payment processors, and EDI interfaces . Build and maintain API connections for data exchange with utilities, brokers, and partner platforms. Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to deliver tailored technical solutions. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and data accuracy. Maintain clean code repositories, participate in peer reviews, and follow best practices for version control and documentation. Handle SQL queries and support ad hoc data reporting needs. Ensure application-level security, compliance, and data integrity in line with industry standards. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3 years of experience in software development (ideally full-stack). Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages: Python, JavaScript, C#, or Java . Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server). Experience with REST APIs , data formats (JSON, XML), and backend integration work. Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-moving business environment. Preferred: Exposure to energy industry systems or data formats (e.g., EDI 867s/810s, ERCOT, PJM, NYISO). Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud . Familiarity with front-end frameworks, DevOps pipelines, or version control tools like Git.
