Senior Project Manager - Data Centre

Salter Grange is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and drive the delivery of a £15m site's capital expenditure (capex) plan, large dilapidation projects, and multiple customer moves for our state-of-the-art data centre facility. The successful candidate will join a Data Centre Developer on a long-term contract basis and play a pivotal role, overseeing a team of five Project Managers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The Senior Project Manager will oversee the entire program, with potential hands-on project management responsibilities, and play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Senior Project Manager Key Responsibilities : Led and managed the £15m site capex plan, encompassing infrastructure upgrades, capacity expansions, and system modernizations to enhance data centre performance. Oversee large dilapidation projects, ensuring restoration, repairs, and compliance with lease agreements and industry standards during tenant transitions and customer moves. Coordinate and support five Project Managers, ensuring their projects align with program goals and are delivered successfully. Monitor program progress, budgets, and risks, preparing regular reports to update stakeholders and ensure transparency. Ensure compliance with data centre industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO) and regulatory requirements for all projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, facilities, and customer stakeholders, to address technical challenges and implement solutions. Drive effective communication and coordination across the program to maintain schedules, resolve issues, and deliver seamless customer move-ins/outs. Manage specific projects directly, depending on program needs. Senior Project Manager Required Skills and Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager or Project Manager in the data centre, construction, or facilities management sectors. Strong track record of delivering complex capex projects, including power, cooling, or IT infrastructure upgrades, on time and within budget. Experience managing dilapidation projects, including restoration, tenant transitions, or compliance-driven repairs in high-tech facilities. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of Project Managers, fostering accountability and high performance. In-depth knowledge of data centre operations, including critical systems (HVAC, power, fire suppression) and industry standards. Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and conflicting priorities. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or similar) and familiarity with budgeting and risk management. Experience with lease agreements and customer move coordination in multi-tenant facilities is a plus. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or data centre-specific credentials) are highly desirable. Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in Project management, with at least 3-5 years in the data centre or similar industry.
