We're looking for a technically curious Application Support Engineer to join the Unified Platform Support team at a leading proprietary trading firm. You'll work closely with developers to support complex, high-performance systems used for market data processing, regulatory reporting, and compliance analytics. This is a hands-on role that gives you the freedom to dig into issues - sometimes right down to the code. Key Responsibilities Monitor and operate production systems supporting regulatory reporting and surveillance functions Investigate and resolve data-related alerts and system issues, including code-level debugging when necessary Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot complex issues and drive long-term improvements Provide L1/L2 support to users across the firm (typically 2-10 issues per day), escalating to L3 when required Assist in onboarding new teams and applications to the platform support model Continuously refine monitoring processes and documentation as the platform evolves What We're Looking For Experience supporting and troubleshooting high-performance applications in a financial services environment Strong Linux skills and comfort working in command-line environments Understanding of market data and/or order data systems, including protocols like FIX or exchange-native formats Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset Ability to navigate or debug object-oriented code (Java and Python preferred) Familiarity with version control tools (Git or SVN) SQL proficiency - from writing queries to basic database operations Exposure to cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS Bonus: Experience with streaming/data tools such as Kafka, Spark, or Delta Lake Technology Stack & Environment You'll be working with: AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Argo Java 17, Python 3, HDF5 Distributed systems processing large volumes of market and order data A globally distributed team covering Europe and North America Why Join This Team?
