Cable Technician

Job Title: Structured Cabling Engineer Location: Bristol, UK Job Type: Full-Time Salary: Up to 40k Package Reports to: Project Manager / Site Supervisor Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structured Cabling Engineer to join our team in Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling systems in commercial and industrial environments, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and performance. Key Responsibilities Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and fibre optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode) Perform cable testing, fault-finding, and certification using Fluke or equivalent test equipment Install containment systems including trunking, tray, conduit, and basket Rack and stack network equipment including patch panels and switches Interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and specifications Ensure installations meet required standards and client expectations Adhere to site health and safety regulations at all times Liaise with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure smooth delivery Document work completed, test results, and provide accurate as-built records Essential Skills and Experience Proven experience in structured cabling installation (minimum 2 years preferred) Strong understanding of copper and fibre optic cable systems Experience using cable testers Ability to read and interpret site drawings and schematics CSCS/ECS card (or equivalent) Good problem-solving and communication skills
