Job Description Data Engineering and Reporting Manager Reports to: VP of IT Salary up to $185K plus 15% bonus and benefits Hybrid Scottsdale Goal : This position manages personnel responsible for designing and building systems that collect, store, process, report, and provide data. The role ensures data security, accuracy, and compliance with organizational guidelines, and that engineering activities conform to the company's Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Facilitates management of all aspects of the data platform including architecture, design, infrastructure, data storage, processing, and consumption that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective. Creates and enforces policies for effective data management, formulates techniques for quality data collection, devises and implements efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis, establishes data sharing rules, and supports others in daily data system use. Supervises development, building, maintenance, and management of efficient ETL and data pipelines. Ensures creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation of data systems, processes, changes, standards, and policies. Works in an Agile environment, continuously reviewing business needs, refining priorities, outlining milestones and deliverables, and identifying opportunities and risks. Collaborates with IT technical product delivery, infrastructure, software engineering, and quality assurance teams on roadmap, requirements, prioritization, design, and on-time delivery of data and reporting stack in line with organizational priorities. Establishes strong relationships with customers, business partners, and stakeholders by demonstrating expertise and enterprise business acumen. Manages data engineering and reporting staff, including clear communication of expectations and monitoring team performance. Engages in continuous learning and implementation of latest technologies as appropriate. Fosters a cooperative and harmonious working climate to maximize employee morale and productivity. Adheres to company policies on information security, compliance, risk, and confidentiality. Provides crisis management and emergency assistance for IT operational issues. Performs additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience. Minimum of 10 years of data engineering and reporting experience. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Deep knowledge of database modeling and design, big data technologies, ETL processes, streaming platforms, programming and scripting, cloud platforms, performance tuning, data warehouse solutions, reporting, and data security. Effective soft skills: communication, problem-solving, continuous learning, attention to detail, collaboration. Effective management skills: leadership, project management, team building, decision-making, stakeholder management, resource allocation, risk management, performance metrics. High organization, initiative, and personal accountability. Balance of technical knowledge and business acumen. Ability to operate with uncertainty and incomplete information confidently. Critical thinking to maintain appropriate urgency. Proactive, self-starter with excellent project and resource management skills.
